Battletech Live

Online, Turn-Based Battletech – Development Logs

1. The Registration Process

It is important to note that Battletech Live is not yet a production system and is not intended for public use.  While the registration process works, it is still a development system and functionality beyond registration is extremely limited.  After registration is successfully completed, the member will be notified that they should check their email to retrieve their activation code.  If a new member attempts to sign in, they will be prompted to enter their activation code and won’t be allowed to sign in until doing so.

Registration involves the following components:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Username
  • Password
  • Gender
  • Email Address
  • Birthday (not yet active)
  • Character Name
  • Country
  • Zip Code

The first name and last name and username of the registrant are required fields.

The username is a unique field which must be from 8 – 32 characters and contain only upper or lowercase letters, numbers, spaces, underscore and hyphen.

The password, while not shown when it’s entered, uses similar rules but cannot contain spaces and can contain the following characters:  !@#$%^&*()

Gender is a required filed, selected by a drop-down box.

The email address is run through a filter to determine that it is correctly formatted.  It’s important to note that the email address must be a real address that the registrant has access to.  Upon successful registration, the registrant is sent an email, welcoming the user and providing them with an activation code.  Access to Battletech Live cannot be granted until activation has been completed.

The desired character name must not be already in use by any other user.  If the username is found to be in use, the registrant will be prompted as such and given the opportunity to select another.

The country is not required and can be left blank if the registrant does not wish to disclose their location.  The zip code field applies only to the United States and is otherwise inactive.  Selecting United States allows the registrant to then enter their zip code for a more specific locale.
